Global Forum Sustainable Cities

ABOUT THE FORUM

Due to the rapid progress that includes artificial intelligence, IoT (Internet of Things) and Big Data, substantial changes are unavoidable, not only in the economic and industrial spheres, but also in society, lifestyles and even the values of the citizenship.

As we enter into a period of great change, we must question how we can adopt new practices and systems to improve the quality of citizens’ daily lives by analyzing from multiple perspectives and spheres of governance the subsequent impact this will generate.

FORUM'S MISSION

Currently the progress of science and technology is drastically changing the global environment, the human body, life expectancy, social structure, ethics and human lifestyle.

In a world where everything becomes data and resources, how can the government implement these technologies in a practical and efficient way with design strategies that are tailored to the needs of the community?

Smart city service companies and expert consultants with our governors and public servants from Latin America from 15 countries, come together to present the advantages of a government and a city adopting new technologies and intelligent systems that stimulate the efficiency and use of natural, energy, economic and human resources. Thus, reducing the carbon footprint and improving the delivery of services to citizens.

The Better Governors Institute guides the decisions of governments in the ecological and technological transition that will take place in all fields in the coming years to help them improve the performance of their public work, find new international allies and contractors for the development of their government projects.

We stimulate innovative and disruptive thinking for an agile and reactive public service that keeps pace with the speed at which global changes are happening in our industries and on the planet.

8TH EDITION OF THE GLOBAL FORUM
ON SUSTAINABLE CITIES

In 2015, States agreed on a new development agenda. The 2030 Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also aims to strengthen universal peace within a broader concept of freedom. The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represents a historic opportunity to unite countries and people around the world and embark on new pathways to the future. The SDGs are designed to eradicate poverty, promote prosperity and well-being for all, protect the environment and address global climate change.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and their 169 targets are integrated and indivisible in nature, global in scope and universal in application, taking into account the different realities, capacities and levels of development of each country and respecting their national policies and priorities.

While the goals express global aspirations, each government will set its own national goals, guided by the overall ambitious aspiration but taking into consideration the circumstances of the country.

Each government will also decide how to incorporate these global aspirations and goals into national planning processes, policies and strategies.

It is important to recognize the link between sustainable development and other relevant ongoing processes in the economic, social and environmental spheres.
